Newscast #5- Ben Murray- Spring 2018
Wow. Here we are. The final show. This entire semester went by in an absolute blur. It seems like it was just yesterday that we were auditioning for our roles. Many memories were made during this time, from the late hours editing, shooting at different venues and being able to tell unique stories in a variety of sports.
I was fortunate enough to have four out of five stories picked up by ESPNU and published on their Vimeo page to hopefully be seen by people nationwide so that they too can learn about the cool stories happening in Morgantown, West Virginia.
My final story of the semester was on baseball junior, Braden Zarbnisky. Last season he solidified himself as one of the best two-way players in the entire nation and was off to another hot start again this year. To him, it was just a job that he had become accustomed to but to his coach, Randy Mazey, he was still finding new ways to impress him. Whether it be throwing the first pitch on the mound and seeing the first pitch in the batters box or coming out of left field in relief, he was always up for the challenge.
As the days pass by and we get closer to graduation, I wish all the best to my fellow WVU News classmates and those who have gone before us and will come after us. WVU News is a stressful time but I promise in the end it will all be worth it and you will take the memories and experiences with you through the rest of your career and life whether you decide to continue to peruse reporting or any other aspect of life. The skills you will learn in this class will translate to many other jobs outside of the broadcasting world.
