Newscast #2 - Glenn Kittle - Fall 2019

For the second newscast, I did a story on the WVU women’s soccer team that opened their Big 12 season versus Iowa State. The overall atmosphere of the game was magic. The home crowd was massive and ready to get loud! This year, the women’s soccer team has a roster that sports eighteen underclassmen. However, you wouldn’t have been able as the Mountaineers came out with a 2-0 victory over the Cyclones. I didn’t feel too well during the game, but I ended up getting some great shots. There definitely is room for improvement when it comes to shooting for my next package, but I think the first two weeks have already taught me a lot.

For the next show, I’ll be heading over to the Coliseum to catch the WVU men’s basketball team for their Gold and Blue Debut. This is yet another young roster that is also on the hunt for glory. Last year the team had a losing season and didn’t make it to the NCAA tournament. I would like to interview some of the players along with Bob Huggins for my package. I still want to do more research to figure out what questions I want to ask Coach Huggins before the interview. I believe my story will be a good one when I decide which angle to take.

The second newscast was definitely a new experience for me. I was a little nervous on the first take and I thought it showed. Once I got over my nerves on the second take, I started reading better. It makes it easier that the team around me is great and showed me a lot of support through all my nerves and helped me get over them. It was a great newscast, but I can’t wait to be even better next time.
