Newscast #5 - Chloe Snodgrass - Spring 2022
Well, this is my final blog as the producer of WVU News. I’m going to officially be a West Virginia University alumni in less than a month. That is crazy to believe these past four years have been some of the best years of my life. I have made life-long friends and learned life-long lessons like those I learned in WVU News.
This class has taught me so much and with everything I have learned, I have been able to look for jobs. The past few weeks have been stressful and a little hectic. I have had five different job interviews, all for producer positions. I am sure that interviews make most people nervous, but they are extremely stressful for me with my anxiety. Fortunately, they all went well and this weekend I will be going to Charleston, West Virginia to visit two different stations. When I am done writing this, I am going to go pack. I have many emotions about going to these stations. I am excited and nervous, but overall, I feel prepared.
Now back to the show. This week we filmed our fifth and final WVU News show. I can’t believe how fast this semester went. I had a great time working with everyone in my class. I think we all worked well together, and I am so proud of the five shows we were able to create and put together.
Our fifth show was a little different compared to the rest. We had five anchors on set and had a lot of movement. It took me a little while to work out the movements when I was writing the script. I also had a different atmosphere while I was writing the script because I was at home for our long Easter weekend. So, I did have the distraction of my sisters and mom being home from school and work. I was able to get it done and I was proud of what I had created.
It is weird that we don’t have another show, I don’t have to turn in beat reports, and I won’t have to write another script for WVU News. I am going to miss being in the studio with everyone. I want to thank the reporters for being so good at what they do and for making my job easier. I would also like to thank Professor Dahlia and Professor Marra for helping me and putting up with me. I have learned so much from them both. Information and tools that I will be able to use in the real world.
I am excited for the next chapter of my life and can’t wait to see where I eventually end up!
